Our approach
Our experienced and nurturing staff are dedicated to providing your children a safe and enriching childcare and preschool experience. We offer a preschool curriculum that features both formal instruction and learning through play and is tailored to your child’s individual needs. Our curriculum includes plenty of formal instruction to prepare your child for kindergarten and allows them time to explore and focus on the activities that excite them the most. We spend a lot of time outdoors, exploring our spacious playground that offers plenty of room for natural adventures as well as age-appropriate play structures.
Philosophy
Play-based – Waldorf Inspired: Waldorf early childhood curriculum lays a foundation of life long learning for the inquisitive child. Activities focus on building trust for the role of the educator with the use of mindfulness practice, artistic activities, and a warm and healthy classroom environment. Australian scientist Rudolf Steiner developed this educational approach in the early 20th century. Waldorf education aims to see the potential in each child as a fully rounded individual.
Their self-driven learning builds a passion for education through artistic activities in all academic subjects. Lessons are experiential, not just studied, encouraging a child’s creativity, independence, and deep understanding of every topic they explore. The act of play is at the center of all of our lessons. Teachers act as a partner to the child, encouraging development, problem-solving tactics, and conflict resolution skills through hands-on projects.

Country Kids Preschool and Childcare offers affordable rates for full-time, part-time, and drop-in care when an opening is available. We provide our families with flexible schedule options ranging from two, three and five days per week, with two Damascus locations serving families from the surrounding areas including Happy Valley, Gresham, Clackamas, Sandy and Boring.
